Hi all,
In the past, when I have updated my map, I simply copied the mapsettings.cfg file from the old backup to the new map folder. I've just updated to the 825 map, and tried to do the same. However, the TT730 just went into a loop of "red hands", picture of palm tree, blank, red hands, picture of palm tree etc. Deleting the transferred .cfg file solved the problem, but of course, I also lose all my favourites. Any advice, or do I go with the flow and insert them all again individually?

I have had no problems between 8.15 and 8.25 with the mapsettings file but I did have between 8.10 and 8.15 where it would not work.
Oddly enough even my personal (non shared) map corrections were preserved between 8.15 and 8.25 and I did not think this would work. _________________ Drivelux

I found FAQ 15 and have managed to import my old favourites as POIs, but it's nowhere near as easy as the simple file copy, nor is it as simple to add your current location as a favourite.
I'll run with it for now, but my plan is to "add favourite", "current location" each time I actually go to to one of them, rather than keep adding to the POI file.

No one said it was a perfect solution, it's a "workround"
I know what you mean though, it's handy to use the Favourites as a "temporary scratchpad" of locations, but I try to keep it down to a couple of entries and transfer them to one of the POI categories as soon as I can.
Don't forget, if you keep using the Favourites for important things, you'll have the same problem next time you update map or software. Also you can only have 24 (or is it 48?) favourites, you can have thousands of POIs.
