Is this available on Nuvi 250? I thought I saw a post on here that the latest software (5.00) gives an option for Qwerty on a Nuvi 250w, but I don't seem to have that option on the Nuvi 250 with the 5.00 software update. _________________ iPod Touch with Holux GPSlim236 and TomTom cradle for car use. iPhone 3GS.. When the keyboard appears what options do you have if you hit "Mode"? |

I only get language options - a list headed by British English. Don't see any reference to qwerty or azerty for example. _________________ iPod Touch with Holux GPSlim236 and TomTom cradle for car use. iPhone 3GS.. TomTom Europe. Memorymaps. |

Yes, that extract from the Nuvi 250 specs on the Garmin site looks fairly conclusive. Thanks for the link there.
However it was in another post that I saw this:
"My Nuvi 200w has the option of qwerty or abcde keyboard layout. It is running V5.0 software and the option is located in Tools/Settings/System in the bottom right hand corner. "
Sorry, not sure how to link to that thread. Perhaps that person just got lucky with a different chipset in the device? _________________ iPod Touch with Holux GPSlim236 and TomTom cradle for car use. iPhone 3GS.. TomTom Europe. Memorymaps. |

hmm... but it's within the same range (2xx) and i thought they generally had the same specs and only differed on screen size and maps?
might update the wife's nuvi 200 and see if qwerty is added - would be a welcome addition!

Hmm. I see what you mean but both the 200 and the 250 are listed by Garmin as not having a QWERTY k/b.
Apart from this thread i can't find anyone else confirming they have a QWERTY k/b in a 2x0 model. |

The Nuvi 200w is known to have a few different chip sets dependant on when the unit was produced. Mine which is from one of the later batches and it has the same chip set as the 205w. The more advanced options of the 205 are either disabled or non exsistant but the core functions remain the same as the 205.
It has the 205 screen layout and QWERTY or ABCDEF keyboard options. It has the option for FM traffic receiver but not eco-routing. When I use WebUpdate it offers the 205 traffic reciever updates along with the 205 help updates.
This is why it is important to only update using webupdate with this model. If you should happen to use select the wrong chipset via manual updating you could say bye bye to your 200. |

Thanks.
So the age of your 200W affects which features you get? |

Yep, that appears to be the situation.
The 205 chipset will only be found in the widescreen version of the 200. More info can be found on Gpspassion. |
