Advice needed, i bought a 512mb sd card, installed map of GB (100+mb), which took ages, and now the pda is at a virtual standstill. Should i have installed the maps in sections (32 or 64mb) or will that not make a difference. Have i bought too big a card, if so what is the way to go. Any help greatly appreciated.
p.s. Got the card from Dixons, web only price, 99.99 delivered, ordered Wed pm arrived Fri am, PNY (made in Japan).

You should not need to load the map in sections. I'd normally suspect it was a China manufactured Sandisk or one of its sub brands but as you have stated yours is made in japan this is not the case.
It may be a fragmentation issue on the card so download Storage Tools, a utility which allows you to scan and defrag your storage cards here and run it to inspect your card, run the test and Defrag if necessary. Alternatively use the Format option and then re-install the map (it should take less than 5 mins to install a 100MB map over USB) and let me know if the problem persists? _________________ Darren Griffin
Removed pda from cradle, pressed the reset, all works perfectly. Installed major roads of europe (88mb), all ok, but still took a while to install, anyway doesn`t really matter how long it takes to install, main thing is it all works as it should and i still have 300 + mb spare. It definitely is a Japanese made card and from what is on the market seems a good buy. Thanks for the quick reply, i will follow suggestions anyway and hope my experience helps someone.

How many programs do you have running in the background? When I have a couple media players, not active, but still open in the background, my entire pda is slow.
