As a non techo, I am having great trouble loading poi's for uk and Europe.
I have read the notes on the forum but find that when I try to load the Euro files after the UK, I end up with no files at all !
There is a slot on the 660 for a card and I wonder if I could load this with Euro files and if so, how does the garmin read them.
At present everything is stored in the unit.
Many thanks

All POIs need to be installed each time.
That is when you run POILoader it removes the current set of installed POIs and replaces it with the POIs in the folder you point POILoader at.
So keep ALL POIs in this folder.
If you create sub-folders under this folder then POILoader will create POIs into sub categories named the same as your sub folders. e.g.:-
On Pc
POIFOLDER (Containing e.g. Toplevel.csv, Toplevel.bmp)
\
ATM (containing ATM.csv, ATM.bmp
\
CINEMAS (containing Cinemas.csv, Cinemas.bmp)
will give you POIs on your 660 with
Toplevel displayed and two folders (ATM and CINEMAS) containing further POIs.
On my 660 I have the speed cameras aty he top level and all other POIs in their own folders below this.
You can, of course, include sound files (.mp3) with the same name if you want to get custom alerts. _________________ Phil |

Phil
Thanks for that.
Before I received your mail I managed to load both UK and Euro pois which were on the desktop. I have just tried the UK one and it works fine.
My concern is this, having loaded the UK with MPH and the Euro with KPH
will the Euro pois use the MPH or not.
After reading some of the Garmin forum comments, it appears that the Euro pois will in fact use MPH !
Any thoughts please.
Graham

There is a Sticky Thread here at the top of the forum that tells you exactly how to load the UK database in MPH and the European one in KPH. |
