I have a TTG 300 (yes I know its a bit old...but it works fine.) I have been looking at the TT Home software...have downloaded it and it runs OK on the pc and talks to the TTG OK. I tried to download the basic update for the TTG but not enough memory on the SD card..easy fixed as they are cheap enough. However what I am trying to achieve to be able to download the map updates that are supplied by other users of Tomtoms...is this something I will be able to do with this model of TT once I have downloaded the basic update to the unit via TT home. And will I be able to then update the maps as well? I am not really worried about the traffic updates (I know this model wont do it anyway) just woul like the maps to be more acurate as they are particularly poor in some areas I go. Would like to make sure it is worht the hassle of getting new SD card etc etc |

I do not believe Mapshares are available for your model of TomTom, regardless of map you are using. _________________ David |

Is there any point in doing the update...are any extra features worth having? As far as I am aware I only really want the ability to update the maps....even the latest version of map on a friends recently purchased TT has got errors. |

Mapshare IS available for the Go 300. You need to have software at version 7 or later, and your base maps at v675 or later. If your maps are currently earlier than this, then you'll need to purchase the newest ones from TomTom before you can use Mapshare.. |

So if I get hold of a newer version of the map, and then download via TT Home the later software, I can use the map share. Good....
Next question, where is the be place to get a newer map from?
What size SD card can the TTG300 take is it only 2GB or 4GB, seem to be getting different info. |

Update the device to the latest software version before you go after a new map, or it won't download or install correctly.

Directly from TomTom there are no other sources of maps.

You could get a 4GB card but you need to make sure that it is a true SD card and not the more common SDHC type as the SDHC card won't work with your device, have a look at the replies by Andy_P in This thread - Mike |

Thanks for all the replies...
Not sure if it is worth spending that amount of money on newer map...for not to much more can have a newer TT which is physically smaller and easier to store etc... |
