Got stuck in the M23's accident last night - delayed me by nearly 40 minutes. Good old 940 showed no delays until approx 1hr after the accident happened.

As for their alleged Vodaphone data, don't tell me that amongst the hundreds and hundreds of cars stationary for miles there were NO Vodaphone users, or even X40 users, who are supposedly being polled every three minutes for their speed of travel.

I think we've been sucked in once again by TomTom's marketing machine, a company desperate for future cashflow, as we all know. I accept that some smaller A roads may not be covered or fully functional yet but main motorways like the M23 should work flawlessly - what's the point of a traffic system that is so hit and miss and cannot be relied on.

Hence the title of this rant.

I'm sure I'm not alone in my opinion....

I've no idea at what time the incident occurred but I was getting notifications of it using HD Traffic from around 17:00 hours. I was routed off at Godstone and arrived home in Horley at my usual time, give or take a few minutes.

Well Tim, I turned on my 940 around 18:40 when I started my journey and hit the back of the jam about 35 minutes later - plenty of time for the TomTom to get updated - every 3 minutes??

The jam didn't show up until I was nearly home, around 2.5 hrs after setting off.

Looks like they sent out an update early on and then nothing again until at least 2 hours later - doesn't make sense. Surely, the jam should get re-sent every time they update via the LIVE link.

Lot's more work to do on this one..........
