There's a guy in the US who set up to visit all 48 mainland state capitols in his 84 VW Scirocco. He really must have a very generous fuelling credit card...
http://www.timbotrip.com/
Anyhow, he used MS Streets and Trips 2008 to plan and optimize the trip. While the picture doesn't exactly look optimized to me at least the software did not crash.
How about trying to plan such a route with your software?

i bet he could have made the route spell something...!! would have made the picture more interesting!!
still, no doubt fuel is still cheaper over there than here!
currently 120.9p per litre (457.7p per us gallon = $8.59 per us gallon...)

Hey - Timbo here!
I calculated the gas based on a 15,000 mile route at $4.00 per gallon at an average of 35 mpg - so that gave me a fuel budget of about $1,720. I set up www.timbotrip.com with a paypal donate button, and asked people to send be a couple of bucks for gas. I blog everything - on my site that has no ads at all - just the donate button. So far I have exceeded the fuel budget, but not reached the goal of $3000 which would cover hotels in a few states I don't know anybody in.
If I exceed the $3000 goal, I'm going to donate it to a charity - the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. |

Isn't this the travelling salesman problem and hence NP-Hard (calculation time goes up exponentially with the number of stops)? |

Cute. And whatcha gonna do in the afternoon?
1,430 miles one way, 30 hrs. $200 of gas. $8.95 for a shower at a truck stop. Two packs of Marlboro Lights. Couple gallons of coffee. Three boxes of Mickey Dee's chicken nuggets (ten pieces each).
OK, admittedly, that was a bit insane.

Also, my TomTom did it just fine. Except for the parts where it suicidally leaps off the windshield every 800 miles. |

A liitle bit out,I think you will find that Truro is the county town of Cornwall, not St Austell, Truro is the only city in Cornwall. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

Perhaps apologies,Looked at map again and it looks like you did hit Truro, St Austell is marked as town previous. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

nice... we just about managed 940miles which cost about £110 in fuel (about $230) and that was in a pretty fuel efficient car where we averaged 44.8 miles per gallon (uk gallon)...
that's why we brits don't do long journeys like that in a car - it's jst far too expensive!
