|
|
When travelling at night I want to turn down the screen brightness on my HP rx5720.
I can do this by turning down the backlight brightness settings in the normal way. However when I then run the Tomtom application it seems to override these settings and turns the brightness back up.
This makes it very uncomfortable and distracting at night. I need to stop the Tomtom application from turning the brightness back up. Does anyone know how to do this, or if it is possible.
I have Tomtom 5 on an rx1950 and H2210 and this did not override the settings on the PDA itself. Why would they make this change in Tomtom 6? In my view it does rather make it unusable at night because of the glare (even when using night colours). |

Are you saying that the settings you make in Brightness Preferences (in the Change Preferences Menu) keep resetting?
What do you mean by "turning down the backlight brightness settings in the normal way"?
Edit - Just been informed that the PDA Versions don't have a Brightness Preferences so ignore my comments. Edited once - Oldboy _________________ Richard

I have turned down the brightness setting in the PDA settings, but then when you run Tomtom Nav 6 it overrides the setting. I have since discovered that it overrides this only when the PDA is set to minimum brightness, otherwise it leaves it alone.
Why on earth they have chosen to do this is beyond me. On the rx5720 the min brightness is ideal for avoiding glare when using at night (even on night settings), so why in their "wisdom" Tomtom have chosen to override my preferred settings is just so effing stupid.
Typical Tomtom arrogance at deciding they know best I suppose. |

Use one of the night colours and if that is too bright for you, try one of the others. |

Hi,
I've just bought the TT6 software for my TyTNII and have encountered the same problem The glare from my PDA when using TT6 at night is very distracting. My TT700 was great when the 'green' night colours were used with the brightness set to minimum, so I'm not impressed at this retrograde step. Questions:
1. Is there a TT patch for TT6 to correct this omission (unlikely I know - but worth asking!) ?
2. Is it possible to adjust a setting in the colour scheme files?
3. Does anyone know of any helpful links for this?
Many thanks,
John |

Some of the screen in the night settings option are virtually black. I can't see how they could be too bright! |

TyTyn II has a similar HTC front end screen available as my HTC Touch Dual, I believe. If so, there is a screen button for toggling the screen brightness. Using this AFTER starting the Tom Tom and returning to Tom Tom allows you to use a dimmer screen at night. I used it for the first time last night and it works. I could be wrong but any HTC make regardless of what it is called can use the HTC home plug and you can download it from the HTC site.
I was just as frustrated as you with earlier PDAs. |

It is the backlight setting that is too bright, which causes the glare. If you have this set to the minimum Tomtom sees fit to override your setting and turns it up to the 10th (out of 20) levels of brightness.
Why is it that Tomtom are so arrogant that they see fit to prevent the user from setting it to the lowest level if that is what they want? |
