I've just bought a Belkin F5U248 Media Reader & Writer to help speed up downloading Maps for my iCN 630 but I'm having problems getting it to work. The User Manual is very basic and does not seem to give any instructions regarding how to Read or Write to an SD Card.

What I'm finding is that I can get it to read an SD card but then once I eject the card, if I put another one into the unit it does not recognise it. It just tells me to insert an SD Card. The only I get around, it is to close down the programme and start again.

I'm sure there must be a simple explanation but at the moment I can't find it, I'm obviously missing something. I've e-mailed Belkin Tech Support but all I've got from them is basically what is in the User Manual.

Does anyone out there know anything about this model, and can give me some tips to get me up and running please. Question

I use Windows XP Home Edition and Navman Desktop V1.1

Regards

your Belkin may have been setup with write cache enabled. This means your computer is cheating on you and pretending to be finished with the copying when in reality it is still busy. As a safety precaution you should never just pull the SD card (or any other card) from the reader without first flushing the write cache. (if you have been writing to the card, that is)

The easiest way to achieve this is to use the "Safely remove hardware" feature in XP. It does require you to afterwards pull the plug and put it back in, but at least you know that the data made it safely over.
