I've been beating myself up about what pda/gps combo to go for but took the plunge last week when i found myslef in traffic fumbling for maps and nearly rolled into the car in front. So the plunge was taken.

Ordered a HP2210, Fortuna Clip-On, arkon mount for Ford Focus, Brodit mount for Elise and a 2way cig socket charger.

I ordered the kit and it arrived overnight from 3 suppliers (i will supply if prompted). We were going on a long run in the elise with friends around NE Uk and i had 60 mins to get it up and running.

So, put battery in clip on and got it charging.
Installed activesync on PC and registered ipaq at HP.
Installed TT3 and a small NE UK map - 16mb
Had to use a 64mb cf card but got west yorks to east coast and as far as newcastle northwards
Made cup of coffee and had a think if time was gonna run out
Turned Clip on on to get first fix - had shower.
10 mins later - up and running connected using correct driver (the nmea38400 bit!!!)
Set up 'home' on TT3 and put in first meet point (took 30 secs to learn software)
Worked out TT3 doesn't have whitby in its maps if you search for is as a destination town!
Plotted route and mated clip on with ipaq and then that was it i think.
Built the arkon mount grabbed all the car charger bits and threw them in the car and we were off.

Got to meet up and a mate asked me about itineries in tt3 but we couldn't work it out on the fly (too busy eating bacaon sarnie).

Anyone thinking that all this is complicated or too techie for them don't worry. Read the boards, get a coffee and the biscuit tin and 4 hours later you'd be in the same league i am for knowledge right now.

I've had an ipaq before and have seen tt2 working for a couple of mins last year but that was it - all my knowledge is from here and similar BBs's

Many thanks to all posters who have helped me along - i'll post a few more times as i get used to some quirks but i ony have one at the moment.

the BT manager comes on every time the ipaq is switched on and if you just want to use the 2210 at work this is a pain as it gets bogged down repeating the process. I'll sort this out i expect.

Cheers

There's a cure for that - read the post in the TomTom forum (automatic connection)
