Editing TT POI.dat files

I notice that the poi files shipped with TT are incomplete. Is there a way to add data to those files ? All the tools I've seen do not talk about editing .dat files. Ive tried opening the .dat files using poi edit and poi manager with no luck.

Has anyone been able to sucessfully create a POI US database for TT2 ?

Generally you will not be allowed to edit the manufacturer supplied POIs. You can elect not to display them. And create your own POIs and display those instead.

Here in the US the user community is not yet strong enough to produce a similiarly successful POI database as they have iin GB or DE or FR
