new voice

Hi first of all be aware i am not a tech-head I have just purchased a voice from garmin, only when I attempted to open the zip file the computer said it doesn't recognise the file type and so cannot open it. I cannot contact the site i purchased from because they are on holiday til the 18th. I am loathe to download vpm enablers from unknown sites because i fear they will attempt to infect me with adware/spyware as I have found to my cost on my old computer. My computer by the way is only 7 months old with vista home premium. My young daughter has gone for over a month without a mcdonalds if I promised to get her a homer simpson voice for the satnav. She kept her side of the bargain please help me keep mine.

i wasn't aware that garmin sold voices and they are even less likely go on holiday

what did you use to try open the .zip file? winzip? winrar? ultimate zip? 7-zip?

it may be worth trying a different piece of software to try extract the vpm file.

What Grmin device do you own? and also can you report back what the file extension of the download actually is, it could be .zip or .rar or it could be something else all of which will be treated as Win Zip but not all will open without the correct software on your Vista PC - Mike
