I have just set up a route using Viamichelin. There is the option to save the route to a selected GPS, in my case Tom Tom. I have saved the route - but I can't work out how to load it into Tom Tom.
Can anyone help, please?

Regards,

Vic

PS The saved file is listed as: Sharon.ov2

ov2 files are POI's which is just a collection of coordinate points, you could call them up one at a time but that would take ages - you need to create the POI files into an Itinerary file which is a Route defined by up to 50 points.
Which TomTom are you using as not all of them support Itinerary planning these days, also does the Viamichelin software offer the export / save as itn file rather than ov2 ? - Mike

That could be my problem, I see no option to save a file as an itn file.

Oh well, it appears I can't do it.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

vic

But which TomTom device do you have as it should be possible to create the itinerary file using other software or even on the device itself, - as I said earlier some newer devices don't support Itinerary planning so I need to know which unit you have - Mike

Another point to note though - Dnote's free converter, POIEdit, will convert between quite a number of formats; in particular it supports itn as well as ov2

Was just about to say the same thing. Open the .ov2 in Tyre and if the route looks OK, re-save as an .itn

But all of this assumes the user has an old TomTom One?? - if its a new One Third Edition there is no way for any of these options to work.

Simple question is the one you have equipped with an SD card slot on the underside of the device or not? - Mike

Hi, I bought the Tom Tom in Halfords back in June, but it doesn't have a SD card slot.
I'm afraid I don't know about programs such as Dnote or Tyre.

If mikealder says your TT is ok for this, you could google and download the two programs we mentioned and just have a look at them. You may find that they are quite clear and straightforward to use, depending on your familiarity with basic PC stuff. You should find that people here will be happy to help/advise if you need it.

Thanks very much, I'll wait and see what Mike says, then have a look at these programs.

Thank you, all, I appreciate the help!

No SD card slot would indicate you have a One Third Edition which does not offer support for Itinerary on the device, if it is running version 7 software Itinerary planning/functionality can be added to the unit by putting a custom menu on the device, if it is running version 8 software from new then this isn't going to work.

To find out what software version is on your device tap the sat strength meter and the version will be displayed on. the right side of the display - Mike
