I drove this stretch of motorway in Italy and encountered a large number of cameras on both carriageways along the entire length of the motorway between these two cities, none of which was in the database. Since the camera installation of a whole motorway must be in the Italian public record, from where I assume the originators of the database gleaned their original information, why is not one of these cameras in the database?
Driving with my wife on an idyllic trip to the romantic art cities of Tuscany was not an occasion where I was prepared to risk her wrath logging speed cameras but I was irritated that a whole motorway was missed in the database. I don't know how you can obtain the location of these cameras but surely their exact positions must be available from the Italian authorities so that they can be included for the benefit of British drivers who can be pursued for speed infringements all the way back to the UK and who can have the fines automatically taken from their credit cards if they are driving hire cars. I'm not likely to drive that road again but I would like to think that this information might somehow benefit future drivers on that route. |

Assuming the Italian ones are done the same as the UK, the locations are submitted by members and then verified. They are not taken off published information as this tends to be too broad and no where near accurate enough for the database. |

Camera locations are not a matter of public record, if only it were that easy!

We rely on reports to gather data which we verify by matching multiple reports and via other methods to ensure accuracy. Without such reports we won't have the info.
Our UK database has excellent coverage, some of our European countries are also of high quality and some are not but we are constantly striving to improve the data. Without reports in countries where we have gaps then it isn't going to improve as fast as we'd like! _________________ Darren Griffin |

When over a dozen cameras on a stretch of motorway are not in the database in a foreign country it is highly unlikely that anyone is going to spend the time surveying every one as, like me, they cannot devote the time to the task on a one trip use of the road. This would lead me to believe that unless you have local subscribers to your database, European cameras are likely to be less well reported than UK ones. |

So what do you expect?
How do you think the database got as good as it is in THIS country?
Not by magic.... By people making the effort to report cameras when they saw them. |

Did you submit any of the cameras to the database? |
