last week I updated my Nuvi200 with the latest speed cameras using your PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Cameras page and POI loader which is all working ok. - I read about ash camera manager and it sounded good so today i tried it but am not sure if I have done it correctly as it seems automatic - the camera manager has put a set of gpx files 1 for each type of camera (ie Gatso.gpx)in the main directory of my nuvi which also shows the folder Garmin - in this garmin folder I have a folder POI which has the file poi.gpi which is my previous speed camera database. - does this sound all correct - it seems strange to have a set of gpx files as well as the poi.gpi file. I hope you can clarify this for me |

it should create the gpx files in the last folder you had your pois in when using poi loader.
really unclear... sorry... example time:
my poi files (csv) are in C:\garmin\pois
i run poi loader and tell it to load these csv files from C:\garmin\pois
then later when camera manager runs it creates the gpx files in C:\garmin\pois so when i next run poi loader it uses these files (as it stores the last used location)
hope that's slightly clear!
not sure why the gpx files are on the actual nuvi though, i'd put them in the same directory as your other pois and reload them using poiloader. bear in mind though it takes a lot longer for poiloader to process the gpx files so if it looks like it has hung (and even if windows tell syou it's not responding) just sit back and wait a while!

Ash10's Camera Manager will download a copy of the database for you and will alter it according to the options you choose. You then upload these with POILoader and it makes a new POI.GPI file.
First delete any databases you have downloaded and the GPX files from the Nuvi.
Make a folder on your PC called POI (NOT on the Nuvi). Put an unzipped copy of your old Speed Camera Database (and nothing else) in there. Then make sure you are logged in here and run POILoader. Change the folder where the data can be found to the POI folder on your PC where the Speed Camera database is. Then use POILoader to load that to your PC. This will reset the settings you have changed.
When it has done, delete the Speed Camera Database from the POI folder and run Camera Manager. If you are logged in here it will download a copy of the database and then make the GPX files. Then use POILoader to upload those files to the Nuvi.
When a new database is released just run Camera Manager, then POILoader and upload the new GPX files. |
