After being an active member of various Forum's for a few years now, it's just something I think about from time to time - how do you actually become a moderator etc?
Just thought I would actually try and find out _________________ Graham

As far as I'm aware, for this particular forum, becoming a moderator is by invitation of the team after a particular member has been deemed 'suitable' by the team behind PGPSW.
Similarly, within PGPSW, becoming a verifier is by invitation after a member's camera submissions have been deemed worthy.
That's how it works here, although different forums may well work in different ways.
DennisN was promoted to the rank of moderator relatively recently, so he or a member of the team may be able to answer this better than I can. _________________ Andy

Hi Graham,
Andy has answered it as well as I can! There is no set 'process' as such. What generally tends to happen is we will have noticed a member, perhaps because he/she goes that extra mile to assist other members or we will ask our existing Moderators if they can recommend anyone.
We try to keep the Moderating team small to so that everyone knows each other so appointments are made rarely. From time to time we will recruit new Mods if they have a speciality in an area we feel we are lacking coverage of or if we feel that we're not managing to keep on top of all the posts (and with 250,000 members it can get quite busy!).
That's really all there is to it, it's an invite system rather than on application and our Verifier team operates in much the same way. This seems to have worked for us so far, our Mod team has members who are far more expert than any of the team and they do an excellent job _________________ Darren Griffin |

I agree to all of the above, some people put a lot of time and effort in, thanks for explaining, I can scrub that off my list now.
Thanks _________________ Graham

Strewth!! To be honest, I thought mine was a forlorn attempt to turn a poacher into a gamekeeper! I'll have to print Darren's answer and tape it over my keyboard and screen to keep me on the straight and narrow in future. _________________ Dennis
