A new Western Europe map for a GO 700 is about 1.6 Gb a Western Europe map for a ONE is 862 Mb.
What is the difference (apart from size)?
Academically, would it be possible to put the ONE map on a 700? _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Size differences like this are a constant source of speculation in the TomTom community. Most seem to think it's cosmetic. TomTom (if/when they comment) give out mumbo jumbo.
Academically, maps are device/account specific and these days you have to select the "correct" map and matching device or the download website tends to reject you. Anyway, with a nice big hard drive on the 700, why would you even want to put a smaller map on it? They're the same price. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for that DennisN I don't want to put a smaller map on the 700 it was just an observation. I do have a ONE Europe as well and was concerned about map size and space for future map upgrades. It seems that v7.20 is smaller that v7.10 so maybe thats the trend.
I am sure Tomtom would not make an upgrade that would not fit, or allow a unit not to be upgradable. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

I have a ONE 3rd Edition, Regional, GB & Eire, 500Mb internal memory and no SD card slot. When I check what maps they recommend, they also recommend that Europe one at 862Mb. _________________ Dennis

They gave me the Go 910's version of the W+CE map, which wouldn't fit on the internal memory of my 720.
I wasn't worried because I just put it on an SD card, but when I mentioned it to TT they gave me the "2GB" version (i.e. the one that fits onto a unit with 2GB memory) by which time the v715 release had come out. |
