Hi this is my first post so i hope i am in the correct section.
I have been looking at a site that is offering the tom tom one xl Europe at 2 different prices. looking closer at the spec they do gice differing manufacturers number 1 is 1S00.017 and the other is 1S00.016. the 016 unit is priced at a higher rate. so can anyone tell me if there is a difference in these units. perhaps one is older than the other.
thanks in advance |

Hi adyday, welcome.
If you could let us know the site, we will be able to see what the differences is between the two. There have been a few XL versions with slight differences so far. The main ones being whether they have just the UK&Ireland or Western Europe maps. There's also been differences in internal memory size to accommodate the different maps. _________________ Gerry

And after a little investigation it appears that the .016 has "TomTom Traffic" in the box where the .017 doesn't. This will be the extra cable that goes around the windscreen and picks up traffic information which is then used "real time" to plan your best route.
Going by the reactions in the forum to this bit, it doesn't appear to work as well as would be expected but it could just be that the more vocal users are the ones that it's worse for.
Prices are changing at present as new units are just hitting/about to hit the streets. Best to look out for review of the new stuff to see what the reaction is. _________________ Gerry

When they fix the software to use the Traffic information provided via RDS-TMC things will improve, but for now version 7,xx software simply doesn't work - there is no reliable delay information offered, therefore no auto re-route due to the delay as the device cannot see any delay duration data when in the UK - Mike |
