the nuvi 700 i tested a while back did on some stretches of motorway but not many, and even then it told me it was a 70 on the variable seed part of the m25!!
so, some newer, high end units do BUT coverage seems to be limited so far (presume this is down to the map data though)

Thanks, I was hoping to get a Garmin as the reviews say their more reliable. However, although I try not to exceed any speed limits, it would be nice to have this feature. |

I believe that all speed linits come from the map data. I cannot think of any other way the unit would know. Map data is notoriously at least a year out of date, so relying on the speed limit shown by your unit would be tempting fate too far . Much better that you look out of the window occasionally and look for the round sighns with numbers in them . Far more reliable. |

Whose reviews are they? Any review which makes such claims isn't worth the paper or pixels its written in!
Garmin are 'one' of the brand leaders but that doesn't make them the best or the most reliable. _________________ Darren Griffin |

they all have their pro's and cons. personally i prefer garmin but then my first gps was a garmin so i'm probably biased!
likewise the whole pc / mac debate people seem to prefer whatever they've been 'brought up on'!

The Nuvi 760 will advise you what the speed limit is where the information is available. Currently this information seems to be limited to motorways. What it doesn't do, or at least mine doesn't, is warn you when you are exceeding that limit. |

I've only seen it on the motorway, although interestingly when approaching the M6 Toll Booth it did change to a 20. |
