I am looking to buy my first GPs. what I need is something which takes me from point A to B accurately, with good commands and can recalculate the route quickly if I take a wrong turning. I do not need any extras like bluetooth, speech to text, mp3, digital camera etc.

Considering this which would you suggest? The main question is: Does the TT Go 720 have better navigational capabilites that the One XL or are these more or less the same?

I know that the holder of the One XL seems to be pretty crap. But is there anything else to consider?

The basic navigation system is exactly the same.
There may well be some good deals at the moment that actually make the Go720 CHEAPER than the OneXL because the new x30 models are coming out very soon to replace them.

Both units use a similar mount (just a different "shoe"). I've never had any problems with mine for the 720.
I think the screen is slightly larger and "better" on the 720 and build quality may be improved too.
Personally, I would avoid the "ordinary" One (as opposed to the XL) as the lack of an SD card slot gives very little scope for adding new maps etc in the future.

I think you'll find either the XL or the 720 excellent machines. 99% of the issues with TomTom's are over the "extras" that you say you won't be using!
