Nuvi 300 Problems - Turn Instructions Too Early

I've had a Nuvi 300 now for a few months but I now need a unit with European mapping.

I came from an i3 which I loved but with the nuvi I've been very disappointed with the distance at which it gives instructions. It will tell me 'in .2 miles turn right' but then give the actual 'turn right' instruction very early. Often I can pass another 3/4 roads on my right before the one I need.

Would a firmware upgrade do anything to sort it?

What about the 200 series? They certainly seem better on the demo.
