|

As far as I'm aware, we still don't know whether TomTom have stopped providing POI updates via MapShare, or whether they have started doing it another way (without using the CAxxxx.ov2 files).
I've got an ongoing question open with TT, but as they denied at first that they ever offered POI updates, I'm not holding my breath.
Just for interest's sake, today I did notice some files I'd never spotted before:
Have a look in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
I just found
TomTomMapPatches
TomTomMapPatches-1
upto
TomTomMapPatches-37 - with the last one dated today, and:
TomTomPOIPatches
TomTomPOIPatches-1
upto
"TomTomPOIPatches-27" with the last one dated 16/01/08
Still doesn't help to prove whether or not POI updates are being done in a different way, but all adds to the mystery! |

Andy, I've noticed those files in my folder for the past few days as well. I'm inclined, but have not done so yet, to check all million (it seems) categories of poi's that I want to subscribe to (instead of the half dozen or so I have checked off) and see if anything new gets downloaded. |

Interesting! Opening them in Notepad and shows them as xml files. The categories match those that I have chosen to update but the latest one there is dated the same as my last POI update (22 Jan). The first one is dated Nov 07.
This suggests to me that they were just temp files associated with the CAxxxx method of POI updates. _________________ Gerry

Yeah, that's what I thought too.
I opened them in notepad, and the only readable bits were the four digit numbers as used in the CAxxxx files. |
