|
|
Ive hit upon a lil problem sending maps from mapsource to my vista cx
Usually im sending about 100 maps of my area about 130mb without any probs. So i decided to expand my maps.
What happens is if im sending a map file over about 250mb after about 5 mins i get an error in mapsource saying that the device has been disconnected as if its timed out or something. So ive found out a way to send the maps directly to my hd then send them to the unit in mass storage mode. But after about 2 mins i get an IO error even though my Vista CX has 1gb of memory.
Any help would be appreciated guys.

Is there a limit to the size of single map 'cuts'? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Have you tried sending the maps direct to the sd card using an sd card reader instead of it being in the unit? |

Is there a limit to how much you can add into the base memory of the unit? I seem to recall that although my nuvi reports X Mbytes free I cannot add files to that size. If you can add a card into the unit then this may be something to try. _________________ Phil |

I sent all GB Topo map tiles (about 1.6Gb) to a 2Gb sd card, no problems. That's a garmin map image created by Mapsource. Took only a few minutes using the sd card reader, took about 3 or 4 times longer using the mass storage option on my Legend HCX. Sounds as if you're trying to create too big an img for your card.
edit @ phil : if it's a cx then the internal memory can't be overwritten and I assume Trancer is already using the sd card slot. |

Ah
I would go for the 'send direct to card' option then! _________________ Phil |

Ive just been out and bought a 2gb SD Card and was having the same problem. BUT ive sussed it out. The problem was I was using a 4 port USB hub so as a last resort I plugged the card directly into the computer and hey presto all working ok.
So i didnt really need the 2gb card after all but I suppose it will come in handy.
