I have a 310D and the power switch is playing-up.
I have to press it really hard to switch it on and off.
I'd like to open it to see if I can fix the switch, but before I make a mess of the case, i'd appreciate any pointers from anyone who has already done this.
I'm assuming that I need to insert and twist something flat into the join, but I would to attack it in the right place (if there is one).
Thanks |

I *think* there might be a screw behind the serial no. barcode.
(I took the aerial apart and removed the magnet - while it was off, I had a go at levering the case apart and it didn't want to know ... hence the theory about the screw. Mine's still under warranty, so I didn't try levering too hard )
I got a set of tiny torx screwdrivers and a polythene? 'levering tool' off ebay - meant for dismantling mobile phones apparently. |

You really sure you want to do that? Garmin is good about replacing units that have problems. But if you open it and can't fix it Garmin's not likely to want to take it back then. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 750 w/City Nav 10 N. America & 08 Europe

Thanks for the replies.
Mine's way out of warranty, so I assumed that Garmin would not be interested.
However, I'll give them a try.
I checked beneath the serial number barcode label and there is no screw. |

My First eTrex Legend was about 2.5 years old when the screen went bonkers. They took it back and replaced it.
I think that it's worth a try before trying to open it. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 750 w/City Nav 10 N. America & 08 Europe

Indeed - Garmin may take a while to answer the phone, and they may not repair it for free (although there are many tales of them repairing out of warranty devices for free), but their repair charge is a lot less (even now) than a new unit, and they may well supply you a different unit, or at least one with newer maps, so the cost may actually be well worthwhile... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
