|
|
Can anyone help please? I've just bought and downloaded a new UK & Ireland Map to replace my old GB Map on my TomTom GO 300 - it's on the SatNav (confirmed by Explorer & TomTom Home), but I can't switch to use it - the only map showing is the old GB one! Any ideas please? |

Change Preferences
Manage Maps
Switch Maps
That would be the way if you have two maps on there. But how did you install the new map? Normally, you wouldn't have had enough space without uninstalling the old map.
I hope you have done a backup of your card before going any further? - copy it to your PC using a card reader and Windows Explorer. _________________ Dennis

If you're using an original SD card in the 300, it won't be big enough to have two maps at once.
Normally, if this is the case, when you install a new map with Home v2.1 it will tell you that, and led you through removing the old one.
I would make a new Windows Explorer backup of the entire card (so you have a good backup of the old map, then delete the old map's folder and re-install the new map. Depending on your set-up, it will either be downloaded to your PC or you can re-download it from TT for a year after purchase. |

Thanks guys,
I bought a new SD card, copied everything from the old card (including hidden files) and installed the new maps with TomTom HOME. HOME reports that both maps are present, but when I use Preferences to try to use the new map, only the original map is shown. |

Have you updated the software as well as the old software will not see the new maps.

Are you saying that when you tap Change Preferences, then tap Manage Maps, then tap Switch Maps there is only one map name listed? _________________ Dennis

That's right - that's why I'm confused! HOME shows 2 maps, but preferences only shows the original! |

I haven't a clue now!!
Check the map version that's loaded on the device (tap bottom right, then on the software box for version details) and what you bought.
TomTom Home should give information about each map - version number.
Have you by any chance tried poking the reset button? Maybe it needs waking up.
Final thought is for you to contact TomTom by phone - you bought the map and can't use it, Help! _________________ Dennis

Have you tried the usual things like a Reset, Reset Factory Settings, Clear Flash? _________________ Richard

I may be off the track here but if home is seeing both maps and your unit one, you may have to add maps, voices etc. then items on my computer and then select the map you dont have on your device and then click the ADD icon. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Thanks Guys,
I cleared flash yesterday, reset today, reset factory settings today. HOME is still showing 2 maps on my unit, preferences 1, so I'll have to phone TomTom - wish me luck! |

Can you just confirm exactly what you see in Home v2.1?
You've clicked Main menu page 1 of 3 - "Add Maps, Traffic, voices etc."
You've clicked "Maps"
You should now see a list of available maps, with a "Location" column. Some will say "Online" (meaning you haven't bought them yet), some will say "Computer" (meaning that you have bought and downloaded them) and some will say "Device" (meaning they are actually on your Go).
Ignoring the ones that say "online", what else do you see? |

That is the same thing i was thinking with my post also Andy. Maybe he is showing 2 maps on his computer and not on the device. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)
