HTC TyTn II and TTN6 when phone rings?

I'm pretty much ready to order a TyTn II and will be using it with TTN6 but it occurred to me that when the I'm using TTN6 and the phone rings, can the call be accepted? - and can I make outgoing calls as well. If driving, I'd be using a bluetooth earpiece or I'd ask a passenger to take the unit and answer it for me.

Yes you can still use the phone when running the nav software it simply mutes the nav instructions, one other handy feature is you can also phone a number which is associated with a POI category from within the TomTom software, this can be handy to check a garage is still open when needing fuel, or contacting hotels etc. - Mike

Blimey...I had no idea of the numerous problems. My videos appear to run just fine, but I'm obviously missing something somewhere.

It's due to be delivered tomorrow!

I opted for the 'full price' version from Orange (£380) as I have a very inexpensive contract with orange. Compares pretty well with other non-subsidised suppliers.

I'll let you know how I get on.

It's been a while since I installed TTN6 - if I recall I got the new version when I upgraded the maps; was that a year or 2 years ago?

Anyway, how do I get TT (currently installed on my old Axim x50v) onto my shiny new TyTn?

It looks like I have v.660 maps on the x50v. I upgraded to Western Europe at least a year ago and also have the western US map, which I will need to use again in a couple of weeks!

If this is already covered somewhere else - sorry for the repeat, just point me in the right direction. I hope a 2GB Micro SD card will be sufficient, with some space left over for a few CDs worth of MP3s!

Copy the SD card from the x50v to the Micro card for the phone and install it to the new phone, then use www.ttcode.com to activate your maps on the device, assuming it is more than 6 months since your last activation this should work - you should also remove the maps from the Dell to remain within the license for your software - Mike

You will not be able to work out the product code from an existing activation, you need to find the original codes, I am not too sure what TomTom have done as their web site used to store this information - I just checked my account and its all blank saying no maps! - perhaps a call to customer support on 0845 161 0009 might help out, I would ask about where the data has gone from their web site to start with - Mike

I have found the map codes on the TT web site, they have just made them more difficult to find:
Log in to your TomTom account on the net
Go to "Plus Services"
On the right of the screen is a list of options select "My Products" (its just above Logout), this should list your product codes - Mike

Thanks Mike, but My Products only shows my obsolete entry for TTN5.

The frustrating thing is that I had TomTom Home installed and had backed up all these things, but I've since bought a new PC and hadn't got around to reintsalling it.

Fingers crossed that TomTom customer help wiill be true to their name.

I suppose I could move to the '675' issue Western European maps. Are there any great benefits over '660'? I might be driving through France later in the year.

One other idea is to somehow extract the product code data from the backed up files of my old PC.

You cannot extract a product code from the device or a backup, if you think about it you enter the product code and device code into the TTcode web site, it then generates an activation code specific to your hardware and map - I posted the support number earlier, I would try giving them a ring.
As for the two map versions you quote my preference is the v660 out of the two, locally there are a few errors and missing house numbers etc in the 675 that were fine in 660 - Mike
