I believe that I am creating a POI for my Garmin C340 in accordance with instructions found in the POI Updater from Garmin.

This is what I'm uploading:

-91.20070,31.58270,Gold Bell, Lake Bruin, Tensas, LA

However, when I ask the GPS to show me the map location, the result is no where near the actual location.

Anyone see an error in the format or, have suggestions on what I might be doing incorrectly?

Thanks - Jacqie

I'm not sure you meant to post this in the Traffic forum, but irrespective, I wonder if it's simply that the co-ords are wrong...

I would put Lake Bruin at

-91.227722,32.001671,Gold Bell, Lake Bruin, Tensas, LA

However, these co-ords are still only roughly in the right area - you will need to refine them to get to "Gold Bell", whatever that is.

Thanks, and I apologize for posting in the incorrect forum! I should have looked!

The coordinates I posted were fine tuned for Gold Bell. Perhaps I need to drive the route to see if it takes me to the destination.

you have too many columns... you need 4:

longitude,latitude,name,details

eg:

-91.20070,31.58270,Gold Bell,"Lake Bruin, Tensas, LA"

putting the details inside quotation marks " " allows you to use commas without actually creating another 'column'.

as swing suggests though, it all depends on the accuracy of the co-ordinates ;)

remember to put the coords at the entrance road if it is somewhere off road so that the sat nav will know where to go!

Thanks for all the tips!

It appears that the coordinates that I am using are NAD83 picked up from GNIS website. Apparently, the C340 does not properly recognize them.

This is a bummer! Crying or Very sad

Is this co-ordinate converter of any use?
