I think that I've run into a problem having just downloaded this months cameras.
I have noticed lately that, eg, temporary motorway works cameras etc., appear to stay in the data base because they are not over written. Now without deleting all poi in the root file I am not sure how to get rid of them easily. Maybe I am just being a bit thick but any ideas for a simple solution ? Hope this is clear. How are these temp cameras eventually deleted ? |

It would help immensely if you told use what Sat Nav you are using as it varies from unit to unit. |

Unless there are any that work differently, the main formats for Garmins, TomToms and the like all work the same way.
All the cameras that are believed to exist at any one time are written into the camera files for that release.
When you download and install the next update, it will have the same file names as the previous files, so the old files are completely overwritten and ALL the camera details are replaced with new versions.
As every file is replaced every month, you CAN'T have old ones remaining (assuming you always use the same version of the database - speed-zoned, consolidated by camera type, or single file)
This means that if you are still getting warned about old cameras that are no longer there, the problem is NOT that you have old files remaining on your unit, but simply that those cameras have not been reported as having been removed, so are still in the new version.
Hope that makes sense.
What this means is that you are in a good position to be the first to report these changes, so that they are included in the next release and YOU then get free life updates. |
