Fine here and I've seen no other complaints.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?*
* Joke. Seriously who is your ISP? |

Well it started of as Freeserve, then changed to Wanadoo, and now it's Orange. I haven’t changed it, they have just got bought out in that progression.
But seriously, I have no problems else where. 20-30GB of use every month and no other problems. Get about 7.6MB download speed on average, which I think is quite good. Most web site load in a blink. But I always have to wait 20-30 seconds here on the forums for any page to load. |

Pretty much instant here, had the occasional slow down when the US piped are full but otherwise no issues and our server performance stats all show it's working normally.
Not had any other complaints either.
D you have any ad-block or other stuff that may be causing the slow load? Or it may just be an Orange issue. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Have you cleared your browsing history lately, it can affect the reload speed? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

i thought Orange were renowned for caching pages for ages. perhaps it's an issue with their cache of the site and reload times? i.e. still maybe an ISP issue but one relating specifically to PGPSW as opposed to ALL sites.

I know that when I was doing home pc support Orange was an ISP I hated to troubleshoot. From time to time I would have 4 or 5 customers ringing where they all couldn't access the same list of websites. Usually Google was fine but Barclays Bank would take 3 or 4 minutes to load half the page and then fail. All the customers lived within 2 miles of each other and when tested the same sites worked / failed across all the customers. Also the problem hit the customers all within a few hours of each other. However all orange could offer was to restart the pcs as it definitely was not their problem. |

No ad-blocker. As you say I think it must be just an Orange issue. Must admit that its never been quick to load ever over the last few years, so may be it is my ISP for some reason.

I use a utility program to clear all my pc use every day, including the browser. |

How do you manage 20-30 Gig per month? If you are running peer to peer file sharing then this tends to cause problems as PCs are rate limited to the number of connections they can make and this slows it down dramatically because the peer to peer software is opening so many new connections (many of which fail).
It could also be your ISP are throttling your bandwidth because you download so much. Whatever the ISPs say about "unlimited broadband", it's likely that you may be quietly classed as a heavy user and throttled or have your connections rate limited... _________________ Gone fishing! |

average iPlayer download is probably 500mb (standard) 1.2GB (HD)
spotify music streaming or internet radio could easily run into 5-10gb in a month
software updates from windows can be 100's mb
uploading full-res pictures to facebook, flickr etc will take a large chucnk
uploading videos to facebook, youtube, vimeo - again, a source video could be 2GB. that fails and you start again, and again...
family members sending 20mb email attachments...
multiply that for 3 computers (main pc, kids laptop, wifes laptop) plus factor in mobile devices using wifi, games consoles connected for online gaming...
it all adds up!

hee hee, that's not what i use!! but just a very simple example of how fast internet bandwidth can be eaten up without even downloading from any dodgy peer-to-peer sites.
i forgot to mention too, iphone app updates and movie purchases etc. a euro iphone nav app could easily be 1.5GB for an update!
