What is the maximum number of MP3's one can install on a TTG 520 ?
I've filled my SD Card [8.4 Meg Free/not used] with tunes - and the TTG only registers 254... there are 280 odd on there.
I've checked they all have id3 tags as i thought it might be that.
Any ideas chaps?

Not heard of any maximum, I'm sure there are people here with MUCH more than that (on 8 and even 16 GB cards), but the way the TT uses tags is pretty wierd!
I never really got a definite set of rules, but had some that insisted on showing twice in the list and some with totally corrupted names, so I might have been missing some too...
Messing with the tags seemed to be the answer, there are several "standards" to deal with too! |

I have way more than that loaded the total on my 720 is over 750 individula tracks, try selecting "Playlist" and you might find there are more listed in that mode than "Artist" - I have no idea why - Mike |

I don't know of any limit except storage space; I have over 1,100 mp3 files on an 8GB SDHC card in my TomTom GO 720. _________________ TomTom XXL IQ + TomTom GO 720 |

Thanks all
It seems to play all the tracks, but when it reads the sd card it only shows 254. Weird. Maybe i'll format the card again.
Not really a big deal - just kinda odd ;)

What have you used to rip your mp3s?
Ones imported using iTunes seemed to have the least problematic tags.
Mike, looks like the "artist" field is blank in some of your ID tags. |

Put the mp3 files into the folder named "mp3" in the root of the memory card (without the "") and it should read them - Mike |

I have over 600 showing on my 8GB card and it is only half full. Are you sure they are MP3's and not WMA files? I have made that mistake a couple of times. _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.

Blimey, what are you lot doing with all this junk? Do you have a different tune for every road you drive along? Or a different tune for every MacDonalds? Don't you find it difficult to stay on the road whilst you're selecting an appropriate track? _________________ Dennis

If I go on a long trip I don't like to hear the same track twice, as the TomTom is the prime source of music I need the storage space and the cards are cheap these days, and the shuffle ensures you don't select tracks, if there is something on the device you don't like why did you put it on there in the first place! - Mike |
