I have got to be doing something wrong, or have completely missed a step.

I'm using GeePeeEx to edit my POI information on a Nuvi 650 with 08 maps.

I enter the address/city/zip, etc. I do not have the longitude / latitude information. It now has for all the POI's I entered 5702 Miles away even though I'm across the street from several.

What am I doing wrong here. I've been messing with this thing for hours.

The Nüvi only uses the Longitude and Latitude information - the Address/City etc is purely for display purposes. So, if you omit Lon. and Lat., they default to 0,0 (somewhere in the Atlantic, off the cost of Africa) i.e. about 5702 miles from you!

If you are a registered user of GeePeeEx Editor (I can't identify you from your forum name here), then there is a Beta version available that has some experimental Geocoding support, that might help you out.

I have version 1.2.2

I've tried the google earth option but it just says the waypoints have been written and then "sorry but that didn't work!!"

What is a good way to get an accurate longitude/latitude without getting to the site. We are now back home and getting the waypoint L/L would be difficult.

It sounds like Google Earth isn't working quite right on your system (or isn't the default handler for .KML files)

Google Earth is an excellent option (when it's working!) - anything you find in there, you can save as a .kml file that can be imported directly (into GeePeeEx Editor).

Contact me directly at gpx @ hornby .me .uk (without the spaces) - and I'll see if I can sort you out.
