v3 or XL???

Hi.. I was looking for a Sat Nav which covers UK and Europe, and from what I could see, Tom Tom is the best make to go for. Are people in agreement?

The two I think are the best, are Tom Tom v3 Europe (i've seen it online for about £160) and the Tom Tom XL EU (which i've seen for about £194).

Can people please explain the difference to me, and which one if any they would buy? Also, if you think there are better ones for similar prices can you suggest some? Thanks!

Beware confusion between the ONE "third edition" and the the "v3" which are not necessarily the same thing. At least one retailer is advertising something which seems to be an amalgam of features of the ONE "second edition" and "third edition".

I would advise against the "Third edition" that has just been launched. It has no SD card slot and seems to have crippled software, so some of the standard features are missing.

The One generally is a good, basic unit, and the One XL is very good.
You can compare those two on the TomTom Website HERE (Unfortunately that chart refers to the "second edition" as the "One" and doesn't include the "third edition" or the new 520/720 models at all.
