Installed Nuvi 760 4.2 software but want to downgrade

I've installed V4.20 using the Webupdater and am trying to get an edited version of the firmware on my unit which has a couple of the standard sounds edited using turboccc's editor.

So I've done the following:

Updated to 4.2
Copied the .gcd file from my unit and edited it using turboccc's editor
Copied an older version of the gupdate.gcd file back to the Nuvi to force a downgrade so that I can re-apply 4.2

However, the unit refuses to downgrade itself. When I restart, it appears to just delete the gupdate.gcd file from the /garmin directory.

4.2 seems good, but I want to increase the default overspeed bongs and as far as I know, turboccc's utility is the only way to do it.

Anyone know how I can force a downgrade so I can then re-apply my tweaked 4.2?

Hmm, replying to myself!

From searching around the internet, it seems that this is possible but it tends to break the bluetooth which I really don't want to do.

Time to buy a 765T and put the 760 up for grabs or in the wifes car I think.
