I am told that one cannot use Tomtom on the new O2 xda although it was possible so to do on the earlier model. Does anyone know if this is right ? |

not correct any more. It was previously impossible to use any BlueTooth GPS on the XDA II but in the meantime there are a variety of fixes available, both firmware and 3rd party. Please check the TomTom forum for details. _________________ Lutz

Perhaps someone should tell the resellers Widget this as when I enquired I was told that "the TomTom system won't work with the XDA2 at the moment and unfortunately it won't do for the foreseeable future" and when I queried this was informed " will only work with the XDA not the XDA2 , there is compatibilty issues between the TomTom and the XDA2" |

I know you are talking about Bluetooth here (or assuming so), but the other issue is with a cabled GPS Receiver is the pin-outs between XDA and XDA2.
Still not sure the official response whether the XDA II accepts XDA power cables. Some people say it does, some people say it doesn't. |

Thanks for that. I would be happy to use cables if appropriate and would be interested to hear from anyone with experience of the product as it would seem a good "all in one" solution if it did work ! |

I've been using an XDA II with a Holux mouse for the last couple of months - no problem.
The cable connection is the same for XDA II as for the XDA. The only problem is with BT. There is a workaround as has been posted elsewhere on this site, but to be honest I don't see the attraction of a BT GPS receiver anyway given that it needs a power cable, which a mouse doesn't - so you still have 1 cable to deal with either way... _________________ Brian Abbott

Thanks for that.
Excuse my naievety but what is BT ? Apart from BT that is !
At the moment I use an Axim + TTN2 which works fine but am thinking of changing to an XDA2 so I can forget and/or lose everything at once !
Can you (with earpiece of couse) use TT and make and/or receive calls at the same time ?
Apologies if this is a dumb question |

i have been using ttnav 2 on an xda 2 with a wired mouse (royaltek) for a couple of months now with no problems. i have also used trafcam and checkPOInt with no problems.
if you you only use the earphones supplied with the xda then both the nav instructions and the phone call go through the earphones so you have to wear them constantly: this is pretty uncomfortable on a long journy.
I would recomend to anybody using the same set-up to invest in a BT headset. this allows the nav instructions to be played through the xda speaker but if the telephone rings the bt headset activtes.
