|
|
I recently upgraded from my PDA European V5 of Tom Tom to a Tom Tom One V3 Europe. I use the consolidated by type camera files. The old version had separate folders for each country and when downloading the camera files, they were loaded into the required country. Now the new map has only the one folder for Europe. I have already put in the cameras for the UK that work fine, but what do I do with the European ones? At the moment I have loaded the eur files to the map folder which means duplicate icons in the same folder. I have also had to copy the ogg files and replace uk with eur in the filename. With only a 1GB non upgradeable drive, this obviously takes up a bit of extra room.
Is there an all in one consolidated file that includes all of Europe or can I take the Europe files and add the UK files to them using notepad, therefore making the one file?
I have looked around the forum, but was coming up with irrelevant answers to my search queries. I am going to Spain on Friday afternoon and would like everything loaded and (hopefully) working with the least space possible used.
Many thanks

I'm not a TT ONE guru, so my answer is limited.
BUT you can't combine the Eur and UK files - one's mph, t'other is KmH, so you need to load both into the Eur Map Folder. I wouldn't expect you to be having space problems solely from the camera POIs.
Have you looked at the latest icons and ogg files - I do believe there are now complete sets for UK and Eur. _________________ Dennis

Note that the following is based on the OneXL and my personal folder sizes but the general idea would be the same.
To save a bit of space, the ogg files can go in the "sounds" folder. You could just use one set of sounds and point both versions of the POIs to them when you are creating the 'warn where near' settings. If you are happy just using the built-in sounds, there is no need to copy the ogg files at all.
Also be aware that the "pmobile" files are unverified so you could, if you wish, not copy them across.
A big way to create space is to delete all the foreign voices - my "voices" folder is currently 49Mb but this could go down to just over 1Mb by just keeping Tim and Kate (data04 and 05). (Not sure which are the Spanish voices right now if you would want to keep them - showing off to locals etc ).
Make sure you backup using Windows Explorer before deleting anything. _________________ Gerry

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but I've been looking for the european .ogg files but can't seem to find them. Please can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Keith _________________ TT Go Essential |

Oops, sorry, I think I got the wrong one - Andy_P2002 is the guru and I'm just trying desperately to beat him to answer. I'll have another look! _________________ Dennis

Thanks Denis I had found that but assumed (Take "U" & "Me" from "assume" and what's left?) they were only the UK oggs . I should have looked a bit further. The downloads are blocked here at work so I'll give them a try when I get home.
Thanks again

That's why I edited to say I may have it wrong - they don't "SEEM" to include Eur ones - trouble is, I only use the UK ones and it's so long since I downloaded mine that the mists of time have completely blotted me out. I'm an assume myself!
I've just done a quick download and find they only have the UK ones, so I'm a numpty. Anyway, I've sent a PM to Andy to draw his attention to your predicament and I'm sure he'll pop the answer here soon. _________________ Dennis

Yes we do Darren!
I've just looked and they are still there.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-ogg-files.php second up from the bottom - "Kate" (text to speech voice from the 910).
Downloads fine and has km/h warnings from 20-130 km/h and tba/unknown for Gatso,Mobile,SPECS, plus redlight, temp and Gatso "variable". |

Thanks Andy, I was beginning to think I had dreamt seeing them, but I don't know how I managed to miss them when searching last night. _________________ TT Go Essential |
