I just tried to set a location for the Channel Islands and found that the NAVMAN people do not seem to think that they exist. Does anyone know how to get maps for the Channel ISlands that will work on the ICN 550? So far this unit has been a total disappointment! |

As far as I can recall, TeleAtlas (who supplied all but the first SmartST and the new Mobile maps) have never produced Channel Islands maps. They aren't even available on the new TA-mapped TomTom devices, let alone a discontinued Navman one.
But this is a TA fault, not a Navman one. Even if TA do start making them, it's unlikely that they will be available for an iCN550. _________________ Tim |

Hi RobertV,
If you want to use SatNav in the Channel Islands you must use a SatNav that uses Navteq maps. Tele Atlas have never mapped any of the Channel Islands even though I've been nagged them to do so ever since I joined this forum.
Bo Peep and I have recently returned from a long weekend in Jersey. We took my TomTom ONE NE (v3) Western Europe SatNav. When we retuned, Bo Peep ordered a TomTom ONE NE Europe (not the XL) and found that it was a v4 with Tele Atlas maps, even though it covers Western Europe. Unfortunately TomTom are edging away from Navteq and won't supply Navteq maps for their products any more to the general public.
Your best bet, if you want to navigate around the Channel Islands is to scan eBay for a genuine TomTom ONE NE Europe that has Navteq maps.
