Couldn't find the answer to this in a search - sorry if it's a FAQ...

Do the above work ok with NiMH AAA cells? How does battery life compare with using alkalines?

I have just put some 800mAh NiMh batteries in my new 4100. It works fine. I have not been on a road test yet so I cannot say how long the battery life is yet. What I can say is that I get a 7-8 sattelite fix from my study window - not bad eh?

Just an update on the NiMH.
I have completed an initial road test. I made 6 journeys, two of which were long distance and I had the 4100 primed for several minutes before each journey.
I managed approx 8 hours which I suppose compares favourably to other rechargeable units. This is the advantage of the 4100 in that you can put in a set of NiMH followed by a backup of alkalines and you can always recharge the NiMH batteries when you stop giving you probably 30 hours without any wires although I do keep my palm plugged in. (Unless you believe Navman in that alkalines give you 30 hours in which case it will be over 45 hours!)
