Does anyone know whether the latest release of the Teleatlas v6.75 maps mean that the Navteq maps will no longer be provided for the TomTom One Europe range?

When using TomTom Home these maps are now offered as the latest range for the TomTom One Europe edition.

I ask because the Navteq maps have vastly superior coverage for Ireland and I am very keen to obtain the Navteq Q12007 maps for TomTom if and when they become available.

Cheers
Nick

AFAIK Navteq still supply the Euro map on the V2/V4 Euro & the Rider maps but don't sell/supply SD versions.
All (apart from Oz, SA & a couple of others) TT SD/download/DVD maps are Teleatlas which can be used on the entire range.

Thanks guys -- I am aware that the latest TomTom Europe and Riders come with Navteq maps at the moment.

I guess my main concern is whether this is the last version of the navteq maps to be supplied or whether Tomtom will be providing updates to the navteq maps in the future.

Hi Darren,

Did you get any response from TomTom on this on Saturday?

Yes. There will be Navteq map updates. No dates were quoted though.

Phew! That's a relief since I bought my TomTom Europe with Navteq maps on Friday! :D

Thanks for clarifying Darren.

Cheers

You can also use TeleAtlas Europe maps.

Looks like TomTom misled you and they won't be providing Navteq maps anymore: :x

Navteq lost contract for TomTom One

During its Q1 earnings conference call today, Navteq announced TomTom One Europe will no longer be using Navteq maps from Q3 onwards. TomTom One being the best seller PND worldwide and its biggest market in Europe, this is definitely a large contract lost to TeleAtlas. It looks like the pricing environment remains very competitive between TeleAtlas and Navteq.

Questioned about the impact of this loss, Judson Green, President and Chief Executive Officer added: « Revenue was meaningful but not a 10% customer ».

At the same time Navteq announced it has signed with Medion a multi years agreement for its PND solutions.
