Hi all

Just been given a lifedrive and tomtom which all works well apart from when it is not plugged in to a charger the screen goes off after a minute.

This is fine normally as it save battery but it still goes off when running navigater 5, so i can get 1 minutes worth of navigation and then have to turn it back on.

Can anyone point me in the right direction

thanks

You could try opening a new memo and writing the 'shortcut symbol' followed by .3

(the 'shortcut symbol' is like how you were taught to write a joined up lower case 'L').

This disables the auto-off feature in many older handhelds, and may still work in the LD but I don't know for sure. Try it... Wink

...oh, and by the way, a soft reset will revert settings to normal afterwards. Smile

If this doesn't work, there's a program called Handyaid that allows you to disable auto-off for selected applications (and it does alot more too).

I do not believe there is a way to keep the Palm on without charging the device. All palms I know, I have had 9 different models and they all auto turn off after a few minutes. You can keep them on but only whilst charging.

Beware though you need to disable the security settings (auto lock) as that overides the power off.

Handyaid is a software app that enables you to prevent auto-off on specified applications. But it does cost money...

There may be freeware apps that do the same thing if you look for them.
