|
|
Hi all. I currently have the UK speed cameras on my Nuvi 360 but am planning a high speed blast to the south of France. Does anyone have a copy of the european camera database they could perhaps email to me?
I heard it was included in the subscription to this site but I can't seem to find it.
many thanks

I recall reading somewhere that "they" have agreed on international (European) exchange and cooperation, meaning quite simply that if Johnny Foreigner gets your number plate for something, he can send it to MI5 (or British Plod) and they'll prosecute you here. Just because you're paranoid does NOT mean they aren't out to get you!! And I do believe the French police issue on the spot cash in hand fines (in 1969 I escaped it by pretending not to understand them and telling my little daughter to shut up when she asked "why don't you speak French to them, dad?"). _________________ Dennis

As you probably already know it's more about who can be bothered. If plod wanted to prosecute I'm sure he would, but would have to negotiate a lot of red tape to do it?
I'd say the french may be more keen, but then I know they are out to get me!
Helpful advise (If when returning from france you are in a rush to get to calais on the A26 from Reims, DON'T RUSH! There is always a speed trap there and they always stop you at the next Peage. You've been warned.) _________________ Dom

In France speeding gets you an on-the-spot fine, and you'll be ferried to a cashpoint to withdraw the money if you don't have it handy. And they tend to target foreign tourists on the autoroutes. |

Now that almost sounds like experience to me!

Thankfully not! I don't use the autoroutes, and on lesser roads everyone gets targetted, with the result that you'll get a multitude of flashing headlights from oncoming drivers to warn you. |

Ahah! A happy paranoid. Me, I drive anywhere except on motorways out there. Plus with my hair volume and wrinkles, they can't even imagine I'd be speeding, which I wouldn't be anyway. _________________ Dennis
