Not happy with Tomtom Go500; what to change to?

I've had a Tomtom Go500 and it does a good job. But, it is too darn thick, the Navman are nice and slim. I just don't like the fact that my TomTom Go500 is shaped like a 50 year old TV.

Also, the Tomtom web site is impossible for updating software etc, I have nothing but trouble with it.

Finally, the map is about 15 years out of date, half the time I'm driving across a field, when I'm on a road that was built in 1997.

Can anyone advise if Navman, Garman etc are any better, are the maps clearer etc?

Any advice much appreciated.

I like the look of maps on Navman, nicer looking than Tomtom, but I've heard the Navman models can be unreliable and just crash right in the middle of a journey; is this true?

Navman use TeleAtlas maps as do TomTom. Garmin use Navteq but ALL maps lag behind to some extent. The latest available amppng for TomTom has data that is between 12 and 24months old.

I'd suggest you looked at the TomTom ONE, nice and slim and fits in your pocket. With TomTom's HOME desktop app, updates are very simple.
