Optimized route setup for ICN610

I have made several attempts to setup my ICN610 so that it calculates a route using fastest/shortest calculations.

Each time I use it, I end up taking a route which is not the ideal route I would have used.

Is there an optimized setup that people have found works as close to the route they would have predicted themselves.

My navman has a knack of taking me up B roads instead of A roads I would have travelled up instead.

The problem is
A) The software is not perfect
B) The map data has errors sometimes
C) The map data has insufficent detail (always)
D) You have an opinion that is based on experiance and annacdotal evidence, that may be incorrect.

Take the example where there are 2 ways to go, meeting at a cross roads, someone else ALWAYS takes A, and you take B. Many a religious discussion has been had about whos way is quickest, and few if any, have ever been settled.

So the best advice is that although it could be better, and undoubtably newer software and maps would make improvements, any system from any manufacturer is unlikely to ever deliver you what you want al the time. If you think you know a better way, just go that way an ignore the device, after it is an aid that makes suggestions, not a wife that dictates the answers
