hey all,

been reading all the posts in in the forum relating to the holux gr-230 and the bluetooth / baud rate connection issues. thought it might help someone in future if i told my story...

after pairing and making a shortcut to the 230 the ipaq refused to talk to it but as i jumped right in without reading the manuals and playing with the connection settings etc. i assumed i must have accidentally changed the 230 from its default NEMA 9600 to some other baud rate and that i would have to send back to holux uk or get hold of a data cable to reset it myself.

however, i read about the hp 2210 bluetooth update [HP iPAQ Pocket PC 2003 Bluetooth Driver Update - SP25548] i downloaded it from the hp site and installed it.

after a soft reset i switched the 230 back on, launched tomtom 2 and to my surprise between them the devices opened a bluetooth connection and started talking to each other.

settings im using are: NMEA 0183v2 9600 on bluetooth serial com 5 [check your bluetooth manager for your ppc com settings]

hope this is of help to someone ;p

Ah, I see the reason why you had the problem. This was because you had TomTom GPS 2.08/2.09 installed.

If you uninstalled TomTom~GPS then you would actually be connecting under COM8 (which is the usual Bluetooth COM port) and not the fudge one that TomTom creates mapping you to COM5.

Either installing the HP fix will allow you to connect, or by uninstalling the TomTom~GPS driver will allow you to connect.

If people are experiencing problems, there's a thread in the TomTom forum which is at the top of the forum that goes into the Bluetooth connectivity issues that TomTom have created.

I'm glad updating the BT stack has sorted the issue, but for anyone not wanting to do this, a better way is to just uninstall the TomTom~GPS driver. Thumbs Up
