Managed to get my TomTom Nav [PPC] working well
using the POI [truck stop] collections found @ GpsPasSion

The current POI listing [there] for Pilot Tavel is outdated.
[it's the one i'm curently using]

I accessed the online files:
http://www.pilotcorp.com/Locations/Find_Locations/#Downloadable_Locations_File

I downloaded both the .xls & .csv

I then attempted to make the .ov2 file using both POIedit & the online poi format app. FAILED. I keep getting all kinds of error messages
with both programs. Banged my head for a couple hours now....

So, would someone kindly make me a working file ? The Pilot link/url
above will lead you to the data base files. The POI datbase here on
this site has the .bmp and the .gpx file. [if needed]

Extremly gratefull for any/all assistance you'd give me.

If you could, please copy the file to here and chillycat3@gmail.com

Hi ChillyCat
Have just tried using poi converter and it gives the message that it is an invalid format.
Looking at the xls file in exel I think there is just too much info in too many fields.
Tomtom requires only name.lat,long,info AFAIK

Well thanks for given it a go.

I'm thinking you ran into the same problem I did...... possibly suggesting
i'm not as mentally challenged as some would think. Smile

What you need to do is open up the downloaded file (either excel or csv) in excel.
Then delete all the columns EXCEPT the longitude, Latitude and Name columns.
Next, delete the first row (which are just the column headings)
Next, rearrange them so they are in the order Long, Lat, name (I think - it COULD be lat, long, name)
Finally, save as a csv format file.

This should open in POI Edit, from which you should then be able to save as an .ov2 format file.

Saved and dragged into me SD card. [overwriting existing]
