|
|
Hi All,
I have seen on this forum previous that the TOMTOM One Europe New Version is meant to allow 100 POI Categorys if running version 6 software and 35 if running version 5 software.
However I am running App software version 6.560 and if I add more than 35 categories, some disappear within the TomTom GUI, even though the data/file still remains on the flashcard.
Has anyone else experienced this at all ??
Thanks |

The limit with vs5 software was 39, with vs6 this increased to 100, firstly are you sure the device is running the vs6 software? tap the sat strenght meter, then the version box (right side of the screen) will display the actual software the device is running.
If you have version 6 sofware loaded how many ov2 files are located within the map folder? - its well worth taking a close look at this as there might be more than you think - Mike |

Okay, the version is as per the above.
If I count the ov2 files then yes it is over 100 if I include the TomTom Subscription speed camera files, which I thought was excluded from the 100 limit ??? |

The TomTom speed camera ov2 files should not be included in the 100 limit - where are you actually checking the software version - in the TomTom Home application or on the device? - Mike |

Just to confirm all the TomTom Speed Camera OV2 files are in that directory and I only get the problem whwn the number goes above 100 including all those files, which I have reduced as only need 3 european countries but currently have them all downloaded as I didn't think it caused any issue.
Have followed instructions above and screen shows the following data
app 6.560 OS:1713
GPS 1.21, Boot 5.05
Map: Western Europe v 652.1185
Hope that clarifies the software version.
Thanks

This seems to have cropped up a few times.
For most people, any TomTom-supplied speed cam files don't count to the 100 total, but for a few people they do seem to.
I don't think anyone has cracked what the subtle difference is yet.
TomTom cam files used to be standard .ov2s, so would have counted. Have you still got old ones?
TomTom cam files are now supposedly different, and we're told they don't count, but they still have an .ov2 extension. So does anyone know HOW they are different? |

Hi Andy,
I have the current set of files. I deleted all the speed camera files and downloaded a new set, but they are all still ov2 files and tomtom home puts them into the western europe map directory.
The only thing that I can see that causes issue is that tomtom have extended the subscriptions to include all speed cameras across europe rather than just for the UK or a specific country as it used to be. Therefore the number of POI catogaries has increased substantially as each country has a unique category for each speed limit, therefore the total for Europe is in the region of 50 categories.
I wonder if the issue hasn't arisen before because people only had 6 categories covering a single country, whereas now they have 50 !!
I also wonder if this was part of the reason why Tomtom increased the limit from 39 to 100 in version 6 as they knew that 39 wouldn't cope if all Europe cameras where loaded !!!

Hi Mark,
Yes, as I said above, they still LOOK like ordinary .ov2s, but they ACT differently. Apparently they don't count towards the 100 user-added category limit and they also don't show up in the POI menus anymore, so the system IS handling them differently.
Still hopoing someone can give an answer as to why most seem to think they don't count towards the 100, but a few people do. |

Can you merge POIs?
LIke hotels, can't I merge the list for, say, the whole of europe? And then do the same for petrol stations or any other common poi? |
