I thought two glasses of wine would help, but I am now officially brain dead and still cannot get the download to appear anywhere... I have a new Garmin Nuvi 300, paid my £19 subscription (it didn't say that there would be a delay in any immiment downloading) and am about to give up after wasting 3 of my earth hours, when I could be doing something better. Help any white knights please. |

Hi, thanks for speedy reply. After putting in Garmin and then the next part of the route, I keep coming back to a clear blue page that just says:
PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Cameras
[ Speed Camera index ]
and nothing else. |

can you try a 'hard refresh' of the page by holding CTRL and pressing F5.
you could also try using a different browser as that somethimes helps.
Cheers

It's possible that there may be some delay between your application being made, and your membership becoming active. Did you pay by Paypal or E cheque? _________________ Regards

Thanks white knights... Rapunzel still floundering. I paid by credit card through Paypal; I have tried Ctrl+F5 and still no joy, next step is going through another browser I suppose. Failing all that I may have to hail passing saviour in shape of five year old child who always seems to know more than I do when it comes to internet problems. Any more ideas anyone?
Ta ever so. |

May I ask what Anti-Virus and Firewall Software (if any) you have installed? _________________ Darren Griffin |

AAArgh, yes. Norton Internet Security is your problem. If you temporarily disable it's inherently problematic firewall this will allow you to download our database. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren,
I've used NIS and its predecessors for a while. I'm on 2007 now and have never had a problem downloading the database. Is it more possible that popups have to be enabled within the browser? Sorry if granny and eggs spring to mind but just wanted to share my experience. _________________ Mike

I actually think that Firefox is the problem. There was a post where someone had almost exactly the same 'blue page' problem. I reckon you need to use Internet Explorer to overcome your download difficulties.
Copy and paste this link:

PS
(I don't know how to compress above link to a single word. Anyone care to tell me for future reference please?) _________________ Regards

I use Firefox and have no issues but we have had a great many problems with NIS and downloads. It is possible that NIS works better with IE though. I don't use either as IMHO and with my IT Hat on, NIS is very poor, bloated and more trouble than I'm willing to accept.
To post a link in the freindly fashion is quite simple by using the following code:
Code: | [url=www.insert actual link here]Insert Friendly term here[/url] |
i.e. PocketGPSWorld. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The sequence of key presses to do that quickly is:
1st, copy your URL link (eg from the box at the very top of a browser page), then:
1. Click on the "URL" button (this writes {url} into your text(but with square brackets)).
2. Use the left arrow key once, to step back inside the square braket and then type "="
3. Hold the "Ctrl" key and press "V" to paste the link.
4. Use right arrow key to move past the square bracket and type your "friendly text"
5. Finally, click on the "*URL" button to finish
Sounds a lot to do, but once you have it in your head it only takes a second or so.
PS - I use Firefox for downloads both at home and work with no problems. |

i've used firefox since about version 0.4... never had any isues downloading from this site.
i think the main problem is not specifically the browsers people use but hwo they are set up and what anti-pop up, anti virus, firewall etc software tht is used. there are so many combinations that there's bound to be issues somewhere...
