UK and Ireland Maps Update

I bought a Nuvi 200W in May with the UK and Ireland maps. Friends have a similar age unit but with the Europe maping.

Thier machine starts up and advises a new map is available. My unit does not give any such warning.

On checking the Garmin site the City Navigator® Europe NT 2009 Map Update is available circa £60.

Do Garmin only update the full map and is the map I have the full Europe map but with only the UK and Ierland section unlocked. It is called the City Navigator Europe NT 2008 UK & Ireland Limited- Deluxe.

if you bought a map update from garmin you would have the full european maps available to you. there may not be physical space on the device but the software included with the map update gives you options as to which maps you copy/remove to/from the device.

I have wondered about the maps on my Nuvi 610 as they a couple of years old. I had a look on the Garmin site on Saturday, the update is about £50 and £100 for lifetime subscription with quarterly updates.

Trying to decide whether better to buy a newer Sat Nav then perhaps take a subscription on updates for that.

I did look at the online map on their site which I presume is the same as the latest update. I used the A82 just North of Dumbarton to test it and found the new roundabout is not shown - it has been there since last year, perhaps at least the Summer so it did not give me a lot of confidence in the update.
