Why, oh why can't we have a top 10 FAQ sticky.
As already suggested & ignored (or at least, not responed to)
Copying mapsettings.cfg over from old map to new one.
TT's own speed cams are NOT POI's any more but found in TT Plus area.
One V2 not turning on? Try paperclip reset
etc
etc |

MaFt did one for the Garmin StreetPilot forum, posted as a locked sticky and updated from time to time. It has had over 90,000 views.
Perhaps the mods would consider one for the other forums too. :o _________________ Gone fishing! |

1) How do I use the Search facility.
2) See question 1! (OK, I know it's not a question, but...)

It won't work because:
1. The search brings up 59 different threads with 29 different answers.
2. People are too lazy to spend time searching
As for "Why can't we have a FAQ?" - we do have FAQ sections (there are two links to FAQs on this page) but they are out of date and in need of some tidying up.
Why not have a locked sticky that is updated by a moderator and links to a thread discussing the issue. I think it works really well, the FAQ is answered quickly, clearly and concisely and then there is a link to a thread where people can discuss the finer details ad infinitum.
Have a look at MaFt's faq Garmin Forum FAQ's & Important Info for an example of how it could be done... _________________ Gone fishing! |

Exactly.
Just a sticky with top 10 FAQ's would/should work a treat.
Come on guys, why not give it a go? |

Give me a chance, I made a start last night but its not a five minute job - it has to be right, so far you have a number of suggestions but they hardly add up to ten! I have ten on my list, but they can be changd/ added to later- Mike |

Thanks. That's good news (that you're going to do it)
Maybe everyone should suggest a few topics then you can select the most common/popular top 10.
As I say, what I've noticed cropping up too often is the V2 reset trick & the mapsettings.cfg needing copying to the new maps after downloading. |

I couldn't keep it down to Ten, its a start, only a few links are active as yet, see what you think and let me know - I aim to make at least one link go live per day, with the lot up live prior to Christmas day - at least the reset Q's and fav's are covered for now.
Not too sure what to do about the Search topics question though - I even struggle using it at times!
Seriously, if you think I have missed a topic out please add it in here as a request, and let me know of any problems as the thread links grow.
See HERE for the seed thread - Mike |

Well done Mike.
Keep 'em coming.
I would suggest you try to have a rolling maximum of maybe 10-20 as otherwise it will get so big for peeps to look for their particular problem that they don't bother to use it and end up posting a "new" question again.
That's the beauty of a fixed number of FAQ's....they're the most commonly asked ones |
