Apologies if this has been answered many times before, but I was wondering if it is at all possible to remove the POI's that come with the TT ONE 'in the box', and just use custom POI's that I download?

The reason I ask is that, to be honest, many of the POI's supplied by tomtom for my area point to businesses that simply dont exist, or are a mile or so inaccurate. Downloaded POI's are much more accurate.

I have already taken backups before upgrading or installing anything, so rolling back wont be a problem I think.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Why bother removing them unless you're concerned about space? Why not simply disable them?

OOPS!! Hurriedly adds "I don't have a TT ONE, so perhaps they can't be disabled on your machine?"

D'oh, sorry!

I just figured out that would be the way (more or less as soon as I submitted by initial question).

My apologies, but thanks for your reply Embarassed

Do NOT apologise. I've done some really daft submissions myself, yours was nothing in comparison!

I agree with Dennis, just disable them, (they don't count towards your limit for the number of added POI categories).
However, if you did want to get rid of them completely, they are stored in a file called poi.dat, which can be deleted OR edited/replaced. Details HERE (but it's not for the fainthearted! 8O )

Thanks, Andy. I think I will just disable them. I have a habit of breaking these kind of things if I get too techy with them!!

Incidently, what is the max number of POI categories on the ONE?

IIRC it's 100 for latest (v6) software.
On v5 it varied with version.... usually 39 I think, but it did go down to 24 at one point!

I am going to look at doing this, as when I want to navigate to a POI I hate having to scroll through a very long list of POIs that I do not use. Using the enable/disable only removes them from the map display or when navigating, it does not remove them from the available selection.

Cheers
Paul

Best of luck with that. If you manage it (and I assume the process is reversible via backups), can you let us know?
