On its email newsletter, TomTom has offered me the latest maps at a 20% discount if I download them, and I would like to get the seamless map of Western Europe. I'm running Nav 5.1 on an ipaq 1910 so won't be able to use the free upgrade to Nav 6. TT's website says "Installation requires you to use TomTom HOME on your computer" but when you go to the TomTom HOME info it says it is I'm "Not compatible with TomTom MOBILE and NAVIGATOR 5"
Does anyone know which is right, or have I misread it |

You need to Select Navigator 5 and then Other Device on the Maps Page and then you should be HERE.
Select your Map of Choice and follow through.
As I haven't been down that route I can't tell you specific details of what happens next. _________________ Richard

Thanks Oldboy I had got that far but I'm worried that I won't be able to install the new map because it says that TomTom HOME is necessary. Butit also says that TomTom HOME is not compatible with Navigator 5.
It also says that the new maps can be used with Navigator 5 if your device is not compatible with Navigator 6. I don't want to spend the money then find I can't install the map. |

If you first select your navigational system i.e. TT5, then you select your PDA.
If your PDA is on the approved list you will have the option of upgrading to TT6. If you wish to do that you then select your PDA. If your PDA is not on the list then you will not be able to upgrade, you will just be able to upgrade to version 660.
You then select "other devices" and you get a screen which will only let you upgrade TT5.
You do not need to upload TomTom Home if all you are doing is upgrading TT5 to the latest map version.

:D Thanks for that Howard. Shame TomTom doesn't make that clear on its website. Still waiting for a reply from TT support but not holding my breath.

The wording on the site isnt clear but the option is either to get the V6 software (it works on my X50V downloaded with Home even though it isnt on the supported list) or to choose the "other devices".
If you choose "other devices" you don't need Home and you get a V5 compatible map which you download and install (and activate) just like any other in the past. |
